Day 2 of The Way

13.91 miles and 29700 steps

Started in Sarria and the goal was to reach Portomarin 13.91 miles away.

Yesterday I saw a total of 7 people, today I think it was 700. Sarria is the most popular starting point for the Camino and I am glad I started 15 miles north east to experience the tranquility the day before. I wouldn’t call this stretch easy as we constantly gained and lost elevation of up to 400 meters. Portomarin was a lovely town and I enjoyed my stay there.

Entering Portomarin

Portomarin is exactly what one imagines a small Spanish town to be. A church overlooking the town square, a town hall, a statue of some saint all surrounded by small buildings with homes, shops and restaurants. Weather has cooled down and it’s a breezy 85 F as I sit writing in the town square. Wish it was this nice yesterday in Sarria. I regret not exploring Sarria due to the 104F heat.

Horses complete the picture now

Looking forward to the walk tomorrow with highs predicted to be 75….:)
