Last week my kids went to the only camp scheduled this summer. Everyday they got the lunch they requested because mommy had time in the morning to make whatever their heart desired. On Friday morning, in addition to the lunch request, I also got a request to watch Elemental in the evening. My first instinct was to say no because we had to meet family that evening for dinner and we friends coming over for dinner the following evening for which I had to prep. It took a few minutes for me to realize that this is exactly why I decided to take summer off. Learn to live without planning everything in advance. Move from Type A to spontaneity.
Needless to say that I found a showtime that fit perfectly. Picked them up at 3.30 pm and went straight to the theatre for the 3.50 pm show and made it back home in time to change for dinner at 7.30 pm. I was proud that I made it happen and kids expressed their happiness by giving me at least a 100 hugs that evening.
I know that I can’t completely change my personality but I can make intentional efforts to live more in the moment. Grateful for the privilege to try this summer!
