5 days in Cabo

Everyone who knows me will tell you that I am not a beach vacation person. I like history, culture, mountains and a vacation is not a vacation till there are at least 3 activities planned each day. our first summer trip was going to be no different till the unrest in Peru made us cancel out Colombia – Peru trip. I was bummed because this was the second time it was cancelled in the last 10 months. Friends suggested a relaxing beach vacation and in a moment of weakness I said yes as I didn’t have the energy to plan another full fledged vacation.

I am glad to say that I agreed to an all inclusive vacation in Cabo. 5 days flew by before we knew it doing nothing but lounging by the pool, massages in the spa, enjoying meals in the many restaurants on the property, toasting with friends over long chats and of course naps. Old me did resurface and I booked 2 activities. One was a sunset cruise of Los Arcos and second was snorkeling in the marina. The sunset cruise while fun turned out to be a party boat where my kids heard music they shouldn’t have till they turned 18. Needless to say the snorkeling activity was promptly cancelled as it was the same boat. Kids jumped with joy as they got another full pool day. Seems like lazy mamma is my kids’ favorite kind of mom.

The only part of a beach vacation that we missed was actually hanging out on the beach and swimming in the waves. It was red flag everyday with 10 feet high waves crashing on the shore which made swimming extremely dangerous. I made up for it by going on walks on the beach before everyone else woke up in the mornings.

We loved our resort, the brand new Garza Blanca. They did not overlook any small details and the service was top notch. The drinks, the food, the spa, the kids club and every other amenity was well thought out. My favorite part of course was the butler service. Gustavo ensured we had hot water with cups available within minutes for our elaichi chai every morning and evening. What more can a desi person ask for ?

Overall I am now a convert to this kind of vacation … once every few years that is. Nice to come back home all relaxed!
